Hidden risks, private assets and avoiding emerging markets vulnerabilities | Joe Morris
In Episode 49, Alex Proimos speaks with Joe Morris, principal, Asia-Pacific, at Control Risks.
This episode looks beyond the possibility for high returns to the potential risks with emerging markets and that risk issues are much less black and white than in developed markets. We also discuss the need for local access, intelligence and understanding to navigate political instability, integrity challenges, regulatory uncertainty and security issues when investing in private assets in emerging markets.
Joe manages a range of consulting assignments across Asia-Pacific. He works with clients to identify and mitigate risks to their investments, strategies and operations across the region, providing advice in areas including business intelligence, enhanced due diligence, dispute/litigation support, anti-bribery and anti-corruption consulting, and forensic investigations. He has particular experience in Indonesia and across South-east Asia. Joe is a Certified Fraud Examiner and holds an honours degree from the University of Hull in the UK.
